Turf Toughies
The Record has picked up on the turf frenzy....you know a trend has reached it's climax when The Record has begun to pick up on a story.

Sappy Articles About Maple Field
Last week's Ridgewood News featured several articles about the turfing of Maple Field. The Sports Council and the Village Council (VC) cheerleaders got together for several photo ops. Wunderbar !
We might be able to live with the manhandling executed by the Sports Fuhrers if the carpeting of The Wood was limited to a single field but you better believe the turfing will continue until morale improves. The trains will be on time so don't you dare question authority !
Mssrs Giordano and Demallie are leading the VC around by the nose. Once you've completed an end run and carpeted a field can lights and the generators needed to keep the lights running be far behind...?

Town Meeting Summary
The October 15 town meeting to review the second draft of the Master Plan revealed a few surprises:
1) strange sight of BOE members joining their Village Council counterparts up on the dais.
2) Schoor-Depalma changed their name to CMX.
3) The meeting was a carefully cooordinated routine to reduce or at least control the public.
4) An egg timer was used to keep the public comments down to 3 minutes per speaker.
The next forum is on Nov 15 will be held at the BOE bldg. The BOE has control over school properties in town but not the field at Lower Hawes.
See you on the 15th....

Softball Gods Fire Rec Coach
Hard to believe but the Softball Gods have sent a Rec Softball coach to the Wood-shed.
Bob Becher was recently removed as a Rec 7-8th grade softball coach. Mr. Becher has coached several teams in town over the years for both his son (Travis) and his daughter (Cara).
We're still collecting the facts on this newsworthy item but this is another example of the RBSA (Revenge Best Served Anonymously) meting out their ineptness in copious amounts.
Senior Commisioner Marianne Griffin has been missing for at least 6 weeks.

PING !
If you live near one of these contraptions you know you the refrain....all weekend long your senses are attacked by the shrill sound of aluminum bats smacking an endless supply of baseballs or softballs.
The cage was assembled 2 or 3 years ago and none of the approximate 25 houses within range of the device were alerted to it's assembly - - it just appeared one morning.

2007 Bergen Cty Soccer Finals @ Grove Park
Look for the 2007 Bergen Cty scholastic soccer tournament to be held at the new fields slated for Grove Park in November .
"November is perfect timing for the new field-turf environment to settle in...we'll rip out all the old trees in the summer while the tree-huggers are on vacation then we'll endure the flood seasons in September and be ready for some championship soccer in November" says Parks Commissioner and all around good-dude Tim Cronin.
To the left is an artisit's rendering of what Grove Park should look like shortly after the hurricane season next September-October.
