This blog is directed towards Ridgewood residents who would be directly affected by proposed land-use changes in the vicinity of Hawes school, including the introduction of lights to the adjoining field.

Rec Baseball / Softball Has Begun
The older kids seasons have started....it's good to see the youngsters playing ball again although Mother Nature has not been cooperative for the first 2 days.

The 3 E's
Everyone is familiar with the 3 R's; reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic.
In Ridgewood, residents have learned about the 3 E's.
Eminent Domain - the Soccer Association expects to use the new Rec Policy as a means for quick approval on permits which include language allowing lights, sound systems etc. Refer to page 14 (sections F and H).
Field Envy - recently other towns have added new Field Turf facilities; Mahwah, Franklin Lks, Oradell, Tenafly and Paramus.
Entitlement - the soccer gang exhibits an attitude of entitlement that makes us nauseous.
But I must defer to my college Ethics professor, Father Al Jolson SJ....the Ends should never justify the means. Just say 'no' to lights and tearing out wooded tracts !
Churchill on Ridgewood Lights
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use the pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time; a tremendous whack.
